Leadership Training
Angela Hanlin

Are your teachers prepared to help every child reach grade-level reading? We recommend Angela Hanlin's training, based on experience. Unless school leadership understands the issue, is fully involved, and actively supports the solution, the number of students reading at grade level will not improve.

Reading and Spelling
Evidence-Based Method

The Orton-Gillingham Academy training enables practitioners to become experts, evaluate, and teach directly to students' skill weaknesses speeding up remediation. All districts should lead with an expert instructor, who should then set goals and oversee lesson plans and progress monitoring for other instructors. Then, there are many different evidence-based programs; here is a list recommended by the NYS Dyslexia & Dysgraphia Task Force.

Expository Writing
The Writing Revolution

The Hochman method is a very easy-to-teach, explicit expository writing program suitable for all students - check the free resources, including a fantastic curriculum. This writing approach promotes deep comprehension and reading skills. If students can write sophisticated sentences, they are better equipped to read and understand complex written information.

Comprehension
Dr. Nanci Bell

Comprehension dyslexia happens when students experience mild dyslexia-like difficulties, but their main challenge is understanding. The problem may stem from difficulty creating a gestalt or mental image, which is weak concept imagery.
