We would like to hear your suggestions for improving the education system in New York State.
I will post your story on our "Dyslexia Stories" page - tell us if you prefer to remain anonymous, and I will honor your request.
Your stories and policy suggestions will be shared with the task force.

    Please let us know if you want us to post your story and/or suggestions and exclude your name.
    Parents, tell your story:
    • How long did your child suffer before getting help?
    • How did your child feel about school? Emotionally?
    • What did you do?
    • Did you hire an advocate or attorney?
    • How old was your child when they got help?
    • Did they receive proper remediation?
    • Are they on a path to being college-ready now?
    • What was the attitude of the teachers and administrators?
    Students, tell your story:
    • How long did you wait to get proper remediation?
    • How long until you felt you were making progress?
    • What was the teacher's attitude toward you?
    • Did teachers understand dyslexia/dysgraphia?
    • Do you feel college-ready?
    • Would you appreciate help at college? How?
    • Emotionally, how did your journey through public school leave you feeling?

    • Are you prepared to remediate students with dyslexia/dysgraphia to ensure they are college-ready? If not, why? 
    • How does your district remediate students with dyslexia? 
    • What is the attitude of administrators at your school district?
    • Do administrators and other teachers tell you not to say the word dyslexia?
    • Do you feel the staff at your district receive adequate training to remediate students with dyslexia?
    • What do you think about evidence-based reading instruction programs?
    • How is the assistive technology in your district, and is it appropriate for students with dysgraphia? 
    • How does your district remediate dysgraphia?
